The Secret Language of Flowers

The Secret Language of Flowers

For the art lover, the gardener, the collector.

$36

Description

During his 2012 residency at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel turned his lens to the flowers—hidden in tapestries, ironwork, architecture, and art. From a rose in a van Dyck portrait to a lily in an Annunciation scene, he created a floral alphabet drawn entirely from the museum’s treasures. The result is an art-historical garden in book form: The Secret Language of Flowers, from Acanthus to Zea Mays.
